FIRE EMBLEM - Fuuin no Tsurugi // The Sealed Sword
GAME MENUS
Main Menu

START FROM BEGINNING - This is the first item on your main menu if you are starting the game from scratch. Choose this to begin the game. You will automatically enter normal mode for the first play, but you have the option of choosing normal or hard mode starting from the second round of play.

START FROM SAVE - Start the game from where you have saved. Click this menu if you last saved at the start of a new chapter. If you save in the middle of the game, click the icon below, or you will have to start the chapter again if you click this one.

START IN BETWEEN A CHAPTER - Continue from where you have left off in the middle of a chapter. All GBA Fire Emblem games save automatically (as far as I know), so if you suddenly run out of battery, click this icon to resume your game afterwards.

COPY - Copy a file. You must have another blank slot in order to make a copy. You can only copy files for completed chapters. If you save in the middle of a chapter, you will lose what you have played for that chapter after you make a copy of the file.

ERASE - Erase a file. Use this image if you want to start a new game and have no slots for save files. You can also erased old cleared files and play again to get the extra characters for the trial maps after certain times of clearing the game.

EXTRA - The extra menu contains other options of the game, such as the trial maps, background music collection and the battling system where you can link with another GBA and battle with your friends. A detailed summary on the extra options are on the Extra page (see left menu bar of site).

In Game Menu

TROOP
This menu basically shows the status of your whole troop, including who has not moved yet (indicated as coloured and moved units in grey), their hp, strength, skill, speed, defence etc, their class, level, items, attack, critical rate... basically everything you would like to know about your troop at present.
( See Screenshot )

STATUS
This menu shows you which chapter you are in, what do you need to do to clear the chapter (usually to seize the throne), how many turns you have played so far in the chapter, how many enemy units are left, how many user units are left, how much gold you possess and the total time of game play.

GAME SETTINGS
This menu shows the configuration of the game. You can turn the battle animations on and off, the speed of characters talking and movement, the amount of information shown during each battle etc.
( See Screenshot )

SAVE
This menu allows you to save in the middle of the game. You don't really have to use this since the game automatically saves itself.

END TURN
Select this menu to end your turn. Use this when you do not want to move every one of your units. Ending your trn switches the scene to the enemy's turn and you have to wait for your next turn.

ATTACK
As it indicates from the word, this menu is for attacking an enemy unit. Click on it to display a second menu to choose your weapon and a third menu showing you and the enemy's attack rate, range, weapon, dodge possibility etc before conducting the attack. Be sure to check the third menu to see if your weapon does any damage to the enemy.
( See Screenshot )

WITHDRAW
Withdraw a self unit if you are standing beside him. This is extremely useful when your unit is low on hp and the healers are not nearby. Mounted units have high rate of saving someone from the battlefield. However, when you are carrying another unit with you, the status of that unit lowers accordingly.

TRANSFER
When someone is carrying another, he can transfer the unit to a third character with this command. This is extremely useful when you want to transpert a certain unit over a long distance. You can transfer him by several mounted units instead of having that one character walk the whole distance and waste turns.
( See Screenshot )

PUT DOWN
Put the unit you are carrying on a spot beside you. Released units will be turned grey and will have to wait for the next turn before they can move. The unit who put down the carried unit will also turn grey.

ITEMS
Opens up the item menu of that particular character. Inside it you can rearrange your weapons, use potions or throw away stuff.
( See Screenshot )

EXCHANGE
Exchange items with a unit who is standing next to you. A window will open up where you can switch items around. You can access the items menu after you exchange stuff with others so that you can use items such as potions etc right away.
( See Screenshot )

WAIT
If you are not attacking anyone, you end a unit's turn by clicking this. The unit will turn grey and you cannot move it until your next turn.

SUPPORT
At certain times of the game, characters are able to support one another and increase their attack/defense/critical rates etc. In a support, characters have a short chat with each other. For details on who can support whom, see the support section.
( See Screenshot )

TALK
Sometimes you will need certain characters to talk to enemy units to make them join your army. Select the "talk" command from the menu and the enemy unit will become blue after the chat. Green units can also be recruited by talking with them (usually use Roy).

TRANSPORT CART
Get items from the transport cart. You can only do this when you are standing next to the cart. The cart has a capacity of 100 items, which are divided into different categories such as swords, lances, bows etc... You can also deposit items into the cart.
( See Screenshot )

HEAL
Only healers get this menu. To heal someone, simply stand beside the character with low hp and choose this option. However, there are long range rods later in the game that do not require the healer to stand beside the injured unit.

STEAL
This command is only for thieves. When a thief is standing next to an enemy with items "stealable", ie, potions, advancement items etc, and his item slot is not yet full, he can steal the enemy's item and gain 10 exp.
( See Screenshot )

ACCESSORY SHOP
Visit an accessory shop. This menu is only seen when a unit is standing on top of an accessory shop map sprite. Buy items such as magic tomes, potions, staffs etc.
( See Screenshot )

WEAPON SHOP
Visit the weapon shop. Get stuff such as swords, lances, bows, axes etc. You can also sell your items for half their price inside shops.
( See Screenshot )

ARENA
Visit the arena to train your units for exp and money. You will need a certain fee to enter the arena depending on the strength of your opponent. You will receive double the money if you win, but if you lose, either the unit dies, or you press the B-button to get out of the arena and lose your paid money.
( See Screenshot )

VISIT
Visit towns and villages. Sometimes you can get items from towns (red roof) and sometime you obtain some information (brown/yellowish roofs). The towns will be shut after you have visited them.
( See Screenshot )

SEIZE THRONE
After you have defeated the boss, get the lord (Roy) over the place where the boss one stood to seize the throne and clear the chapter.
